Do you know what travel health is?
That thing you’re supposed to do before you travel…
At the moment you should only travel if you really need to, but when things start to normalise, everyone will be travelling again.
So if travelling is on your bucket list, you should definitely look up what vaccines you need and what health risks there may be when you travel.
Travel health involves looking at all of this and more — such as where the nearest hospital will be, or what food and drink you will have.
Take it from me, as a travel health pharmacist for 5 years I’ve given advice to all walks of life on what they need to do to prepare themselves before they travel.
You’re likely to have picked somewhere exotic to travel, as you do, a beach or a place of nature to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
When you travel from a place that is practically disease-free, you think you’re automatically resistant to everything abroad.
I’m here to tell you that, sadly, that’s not the case.
Before you travel, you need to check out what diseases exist in the places you are going to.
You might need a vaccination, to wear insect repellent or avoid areas where there might be disease outbreaks.
